Candidates for the Access to Essential Services and Social Entrepreneurship Awards will be selected based on the following criteria:
- The project shall aim to improve or develop water, sanitation or waste management services.
- It shall be targeted at developing countries
- It shall already have produced conclusive results in one or more meaningful pilots
- The project shall be widely replicable and free of royalties, or at least not subject to constraining intellectual property rights
- The candidate organisation and the team responsible for the project submitted shall be qualified, experienced or highly reputed
- The candidature file shall be fully compliant in terms of form and content, explicit answers shall be given to the questions asked, the presentation shall be clear, etc.
- The prize money shall be used to improve water, wastewater treatment and waste management services in developing countries
Additional criteria for the Access to Essential Services Award
- The candidature shall be submitted by a non-profit organisation
- The project submitted must include a research study for developing an innovation
- The project shall be supported or developed locally in collaboration with a public organisation
Additional criteria for the Social Entrepreneurship Award
- The candidature shall be submitted by a social entrepreneur
- The project shall be supported by or developed in collaboration with local stakeholders
