The selection of the candidates is made according to the following criteria:
- Applications are presented by one person or team sponsored by a professional training centre, a post-graduate or research institution.
- Your project aims to improve / develop / professionalize the water and sanitation services in urban areas in developping countries, on one or several aspects:
water treatment (drinking water, wastewater), networks (transport, distribution, collection, etc.), invoicing, payment collection, reduction of investment and operating costs, organization and management of services, pricing and customer service, financing, access to safe drinking water for underprivileged people, education and capacity building, town planning.
- Your project is innovative.
- Your innovation is based on field work or research and bears concluding results with one or more pilot experiments of significance. It is ready for being developed on a wide scale.
- Your project is replicable in other places or situations so that it should benefit to the greatest number (simple to implement, adaptable costs, non-constraining intellectual property, etc.)
- Your project is sponsored by a local authority (if your candidature is accepted, a sponsor letter will have to be enclosed).
